8 DEC 2023 - Our very own Liam Wood just won several awards at the WP Surfing 2023 awards evening at Suikerbossie Restaurant last week.
Massive surprise to Liam was winning the very prestigious " Basil Lomberg award" given to him by SSA Robin Dekock for outstanding work to W.P Surfing.
A Trophy named in memory to Basil Lomberg, a former WP, SA Surfing & ISA President.
Basil Lomberg was responsible for reforming the ISA in 1976 and passed away from in Cancer in 1980.
The trophy is considered the highest award that can be awarded by Western Province Surfing and is usually awarded to the WP administrator who has excelled in his/her tasks and who has achieved recognition for their outstanding work by his/her peers.
Liam was also awarded "Coach of the Year Award" - a surf coach who has excelled privately and provincially with His team in individual and team events, showing passion and love for his surfers and the sport of surfing.
