We at Cape Town Surfing are so proud to announce the new president of W.P surfing as our very own director and head coach Liam Wood.
Liam has some very big shoes to fill from ex-president Robert Scott but is super excited for the opportunity to help move W.P in a new and positive direction.
Liam has said of his new role in W.P, “ I am truly humbled by my newly appointed position. Last year was such an honor to coach the W.P Surfing Team at SA Champs and to take the win and now to take over from such a massive role model,Rober Scott, is an absolute privilege.
I am very much looking forward to taking on this role and working closely with a new, experienced committee with the aim of making WP surfing, bigger, better for everyone! “
Liam Wood’s past experience helped him with his new position as well as traveling the world doing selected WQS events in Europe. Liam was Capt of both the Irish and British Surf teams. Later he went on to create Cape Town Surfing, offering lessons from Muizeneberg and Llandudno. He later Managed and coached the U.C.T and Cape Technicon Surf Teams for several years winning many accolades then signing with Hurley as their Team Rider. This grew into positions as the Team Manager, Wetsuits & Retail Sales Manager,later to become Marketing Manager of Hurley Africa.
Liam’s passion has stayed with working closely with all ages of surfers and has recently used his 7 year coaching programme with many W.P, SA Team surfers.
